Understanding the Alliance Church and it’s impact on our lives
This effort to understand the Alliance Church is a work in progress. So far I have a few critical hypotheses that I’m working on.
- The hate hypothesis: The Alliance Church promotes hate towards homosexual people; and
- The harm hypothesis: The Alliance Church harms folks who have homosexual dispositions, and
- The denial hypothesis: The Alliance Church denies a cluster of climate change tenets, including that Anthropomorphic Global Warming (AGW) is real, that its impacts will be significant and that humans can mitigate it if they want to.
Revised hypotheses (2015 05 15)
I’m thinking that I should revise my hypotheses. I’ve begun to think that the Alliance Church doctrine and practices are as anti-trans as anti-gay. Also, I’ve begun to wonder about the denial hypothesis. Additionally, it now looks like the weaker hypotheses (easier to establish) would be those claiming harm. The evidence towards these hypotheses come to us from psychology and health sciences. “Hate,” however, has a couple of meanings, including a legal one, and so the hate hypothesis might need to be divided up into a weaker and a stronger version.
If I do revise these ideas, it would be to something like the following.
Harm versions
The Gay Harm Hypothesis: The Alliance Church harms members of its congregation who are gay.
The Trans Harm Hypothesis: The Alliance Church harms members of its congregation who would otherwise be transgender.
Hate versions (stronger and weaker versions)
The Gay Behaviour Hate Hypothesis (social): The Alliance Church hates gay behaviour (weaker version).
The Gay Behaviour Hate Hypothesis (legal): The Alliance Church hates gay behaviour (in the legal sense of “hate”, weaker version).
The Gay Hate Hypothesis (social): The Alliance Church hates people who are, being or in their being, gay (stronger version).
The Gay Hate Hypothesis (legal): The Alliance Church hates people who are, being or in their being, gay (in the legal sense of “hate”, stronger version).
The Transgender Behaviour Hate Hypothesis (social): The Alliance Church hates transgender behaviour (weaker version).
The Transgender Behaviour Hate Hypothesis (legal): The Alliance Church hates transgender behaviour (in the legal sense of “hate”, weaker version).
The Transgender Hate Hypothesis (social): The Alliance Church hates people who are, being or in their being, transgender (stronger version)
The Transgender Hate Hypothesis (legal): The Alliance Church hates people who are, being or in their being, Transgender (in the legal sense of “hate”, stronger version).
